Seed germination

  1. remove pappus from fruit
  2. make 10% bleach and bleach the pappus-free fruits (“seeds’) for 10 min. 
  3. place 10-12 bleached fruits on a standard Petri Dish (either glass or plastic) with germination paper lining the inside,
  4. add regular water to slightly cover the fruits in the Petri Dishes on the germination paper,
  5. check Petri Dishes daily, germination will start in a 2-12 days. Add water as needed (normally once every 2-4 days) to maintain the moist environment inside the Petri Dish. 
  6. seedlings can be transferred to soil once roots and cotyledons emerge
